Home Gym Life Fitness Equipment vs Public Gym

Posted by admin on June 24th, 2010

Why train at home with your own Life Fitness equipment rather than going the grind with a bunch of like-minded people at the public gym?

Here are a few reasons:

- Cost- A gym membership for a year can seem costly against buying equipment that will last longer.

- Privacy- If currently unfit it can seem more attractive to train with privacy.

- Time restraints – Busy lifestyles may mean odd hours to train, which may not fit into opening hours.

- No pressure- watching others train at a higher level can sometimes put undue pressure on us to perform before being physically ready.

- Less complex- often, walking into a public gym can seem overwhelming trying to work out which machine does what and where to start.

- No waiting- At home you never need to wait for equipment to be free.

- Convenience- no travelling, no packing gear, no shared amenities, no forgotten water bottles.

Take care to eat well, and get good advice on safety.

Starting out can be on a small scale, and gradually build up the equipment.

Never start out blind, without a sensible training plan and correct technique. If you cause yourself an injury, or don’t get the desired results, any effort will be wasted and that can be disheartening. If overweight, or haven’t trained in a while, a quick checkup at the doctor is recommended.

Home gym offers many positive points, provided you get proper advice beforehand. Buy good equipment, or be prepared for cheaper to last a shorter distance.

Investing in Life Fitness equipment equals investing in your health.

Boost Your Brain With Life Fitness Ellipticals

Posted by admin on June 13th, 2010

We’ve all heard the saying “a healthy mind in a healthy body”. Yep, those Romans knew what they were talking about. And they didn’t have any Life Fitness Ellipticals to get the job done.

An article I recently read said the exact same thing. Researchers had discovered that regular exercise can keep you mentally healthy 10 to 15 years longer.

Here are a few keypoints the article discusses:
“However, it is important to understand that dementia (including Alzheimer’s disease) is not a “normal” part of aging. And you do not have to accept reduced mental acuity as being inevitable. “

“In fact, many of the same lifestyle changes that will lower your risk of diabetes will also improve your chances of never developing Alzheimer’s. “

“Although the mind-body research into the benefits of exercise against dementia may still be in its infancy, there is compelling evidence that regular exercise promotes essential cell and tissue repair mechanisms, including growth of new brain cells. “

You know I always thought that once your brain cells were dead, that was it. No way of recovering them.

“In essence, exercise encourages your brain to work at optimum capacity by causing your nerve cells to multiply, strengthening their interconnections and protecting them from damage. “

“Previous research has also shown that a regular exercise program can slow the development of Alzheimer’s disease by altering the way damaging proteins reside in your brain. “

“you can easily “push back cognitive decline by anywhere from 10 to 15 years” by incorporating an exercise regimen three to four times a week – even if you begin during middle age, and exercise at a moderate rate. “

Well it’s good to know there’s still hope for those of us above 30 ;-)

Let’s all jump on our Life Fitness ellipticals, who knows what brilliant, life changing inventions we’ll come up with.

Remanufactured Life Fitness Machines – Think Twice Before You Buy

Posted by admin on June 13th, 2010

The economy being what it is, people all over the world are looking more and more to the second-hand and remanufactured markets to buy a product they want or need. Because of this, remanufactured Life Fitness machines are on the rise, both in the USA and Europe.

Unfortunately, when there’s money involved, there’s also a few bad apples to look out for. Here are a few interesting points I read in an article:

there is a right way to do things and then there is the easy way. I go after equipment that doesn’t have many hours on it, most often, a gym that goes under in the first year, or sometimes even individual consumers that bought brand new commercial machines such as Life Fitness, Precor, or Hammer Strength and they use it a few times and that’s it.

This comment was made by a 25 year old company that refurbishes gym equipment; IJR. This tactic is more expensive for them at first glance, but because the Life Fitness machines for example are newer, buyers have fewer issues with them.

the easy ways of refurbishing equipment he is referring to Mega gyms that sell their equipment after 10 years of commercial use.

I really wouldn’t recommend buying remanufactured Life Fitness machines (or any other brand for that matter) that old. Unless they come with a decent warranty, that is.

As a matter of fact, even BBB is getting involved…

The Better Business Bureau has noted numerous Consumer complaints that have mounted on these types of mega stores. Because the equipment sometimes comes without warranty and lasts sometimes as little as a week before breaking down,

IJR continues with…

A warranty if supplied with the product at no additional costs is a sign that the company stands behind its work enough to risk a possible refund or additional expenditure to make the sale right.

In other words, think twice before buyin remanufactured Life Fitness machines without a warranty.

Life Fitness Exercise Equipment Commercial

Posted by admin on June 13th, 2010

Trying to find a video that showed Life Fitness exercise equipment being used with an iPod, I came across the commercial below on YouTube. It’s short, but it gives a nice overview of the high class products Life Fitness offers.

<object width=”480″ height=”385″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/P_dhPiPFBe4&hl=nl_NL&fs=1&rel=0″></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/P_dhPiPFBe4&hl=nl_NL&fs=1&rel=0″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”480″ height=”385″></embed></object>

Still looking for a video to go with my previous post about Life Fitness exercise equipment that you can use in combination with an iPod. If anyone knows of such a video, please let me know.
